Be sure to pick up several from the band room or print a few extras and hand them out to your co-workers and friends.
See you Thursday!
Color Guard is a vital part of the marching band and adds a dynamic visual element to every performance. They are a significant part of the visual impact of our show and are assessed in each competition. No district funding is provided to purchase their show-specific costumes, flags and props. Please consider supporting this year's Guard by purchasing a Jamba Juice card. You can purchase them from Color Guard members, at the parent meeting on Tuesday night, August 16, or via our band website (we will mail your card to you by August 25). Thanks for your support!
Here is the proposed schedule for our Fall 2015 season. Make plans to come watch the kids as well as nights and events in which to volunteer. With 198 students, we need ALOT of help!
At 6:30 PM on Tuesday, May 12th, the Ironwood High School Music Program will host its annual Spring Concert and Silent Auction. Members of the public are invited to enjoy great music by student musicians and help Ironwood raise much needed funds for next year’s program. Organizers are hoping the event will be the crowning jewel in a successful fundraising year.
Ironwood’s Music Program is supported by a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization called the Ironwood Band Community Foundation or IBCF. In its first year of operation, it has raised over $50,000 in cash and gifts-in-kind for the program. The IBCF is staffed by volunteers and membership is open to the public. Fundraisers like the Silent Auction provide a vital source of funds for things like instruments, uniforms, and additional instructors to help the growing program.
This is good news for Ironwood music students, because budget restrictions have forced the Peoria Unified School District to cut $2.8 Million from next year’s budget. This is on top of the $229 Million in cuts over the last six years. If it weren't for Peoria’s successful bond initiatives over the last few years, the district could have been forced to cut Arts and Music programs as is the case in the Dysart School District.
“This has been a very exciting year for Ironwood music students and their families,” says IBCF President Shari Marbois. “Next year will be even better, but we have a long way to go to catch up with other band programs in our area.”
The IBCF invites the public to the concert which will feature Ironwood’s Concert Band, Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble. The Silent Auction fundraiser offers a variety of items for bid including entertainment experiences such as resort getaways, fine dining, hot air balloon rides, and Diamondbacks tickets. Other items include: Indoor Kart Racing passes, massages, hair treatments, and works of art. 100% of all funds will be donated to the Ironwood High School Instrumental Music Department.
The Silent Auction begins at 6:30pm and the Concert at 7:00PM on Tuesday, May 12th in the Ironwood Performing Arts Center located at 6051 W Sweetwater Rd, Glendale, AZ 85304.
For more information, contact the IBCF at firstname.lastname@example.org.
